People think Zoroark because of the "Ponytail" at the end of Yamabuki's mane. They both share this single quality. Otherwise, they truly are not that similar.

And, of course, as Pokemon is more popular that Pop'n, especially in America, people will tend to think this.

... I did. But that wasn't my first reaction to him.

Yamabuki looks similar, because they are both kitsune. However, they have obvious differences. The only thing I see similar is the big mane. But that's it. It's like comparing apples to oranges, really. He's very different, although I see more similarities in the face to Ninetales, who is also a kitsune. Of course they'd have minor similarities because they're based on the same thing.
