  • Bert Shepard was my Mothers cousin From Dana, IN. Also home of Iconic WWII reporter Ernie Pyle. In 1944 Bert's P-38 lighting was shot down over Germany. A German Military Dr pulled him from the wreckage & @ gunpoint held back farmers threatening to finish Shepard off with pitchforks. He Awoke in a hospital as a POW. His mangled leg was amputated. As the years rolled Shepard remained intrigued that how he survived his crash & in 1992 He was able to reunite with that German Dr that saved his life

  • Just learned of both of these today. Pretty remarkable and inspirational. Want to see Gray's movie. Will ask Netflix to obtain it.

  • The Pete Gray movie - can't think of the name - is worth seeing.

  • with all that they could still play
