What's Shenmue Gameplay Dreamcast Part 1

"What's Shenmue" was basically a demo of the game. It featured an original "story" which had nothing to do with the story the full version revolves around. In this demo you play as Ryo Hazuki and your goal is to find a SEGA executive in Dobuita. If you watch closely you will notice, that there are several differences between this demo and the final version of the game. For example, In this demo Ryo can kneel down which is not possible in the game. Some of the characters are dressed differently . Can anyone tell me if the soda machine offers Coca Cola drinks in the final version of the game as well? I had to cut this one in two parts to show the whole story of the demo. I have cut out several minutes of waiting time (one event can only be triggered after 4pm in the game) as you will notice when you look at the time difference between Ryo's watch at the end of part 1 and the beginning of part 2.

I had the ps1 back then never bought a dreamcast but played it sometimes at my firneds house. It was a superior system and is still great today. I recently bought my own im trying to find out good games to buy ATM, but this is still a great system.

I've seen a many videos of Shenmue gameplay on Youtube. I think this is the best one.

And ppl, please, don't forget that a 1999 year released game. Untill our days it looks great. Shenmue - it's a really masterpiece.

Never owned a Dreamcast or played this but if its Freeroaming (Please let me know somebody) Its actualy loads better than GTA. The graphics are awesome, great video, thanks.

The game has a main plot: Trying to find the guy who killed your father (I am now referrint to the "normal" version, not "What's Shenmue") but there are a lot of sidequests you can do or you can also just free roam if you like :-). There is apparently a time limit to finish the main story but it seems to be pretty generous :-).

It was stupid.When I first played the game I thought there was like a hidden health bar like in CoD.So I thought if I bought soda it would heal him.I spent my money for nothing and got stuck in the game.

ahh...the dreamcast.I play blue stinger,sonic adventures 1 and 2,Shenmue 1 and 2,Illbleed,Resident evil,Tin Tin Sparky and I forget...but,now that we XBOX 360 it's much better.

@TheSegaStoner Nah. It's non-canon. Though there's a easter egg in the main game that references the demo, where you see Yukawa and he recognizes Ryo, running away.

Though,. thank goodness people realize it's only a demo. That "walking and talking only" comment riled me up.
