When I first began my conversation with Paradise, I knew that he was part of the Hip-Hop group X-Clan, who I've always admired and listened to. As the conversation unfolded, I realized that I was talking to one of the forefathers of Black Power Hip-Hop. DJ Paradise's club, The Latin Quarters in Manhattan was the incubator for artists like Public Enemy, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Queen Latifah and many more.
