This video is great for people who aren't scientist to understand stem cells!

Drugs that are being developed to treat people with Parkinson's and ALS are being tested on stem cell lines that are derived from people with these diseases. Rather than test the drugs first on people, we test them on petri dishes of stem cells. This way we can find the best drugs more quickly and minimize exposing patients to drugs that might not work or have serious side effects. This involves a form of cloning, but for therapy, not reproduction.

@astridishere Actually, this video is ideal for any student or person who needs help breaking the information down. This video is also great for English Language Learners. So before you rush to judgment, perhaps you should expand your worldview a bit.

I appreciate your input. "PATRONIZING"
This video is a component of a science center exhibit that aims to engage young learners to the basic concepts of regenerative medicine science. This clip, focuses moreover on the very BASICS of stem cells. It is intended to be animated and somewhat juvenille.

Thank you for your positive comment. This video is the result of an NIH SEPA grant and is one small media component of an interactive science center exhibit that is permanently installed at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, along with a travel exhibit component that has visited 7 other science centers across the U.S. We also have classroom materials and teacher PD. Opps... yes, we made this video in partnership with Carnegie Science Center. Best!
