Ron Paul is so "different" and "revolutionary" that he goes to the CPAC conference to hang out with Limbaugh, Huckabee, and the rest of them.

He's just another republican. So he doesn't have any sex scandals, big deal. Does he want a freakin' medal?

People underestimate Ron Paul just as they did Goldwater. Goldwater completely changed the republican party even though he lost against Johnson. Ron Paul carries the same enthusiastic following that appeals to libertarian minded suburbanites. If history repeats itself, then the next GOP candidate will be a populist version of Ron Paul just as Reagan was after Goldwater.

Barry Goldwater, Sr. was indeed a great man and did change the Republican Party for the better. Libertarian views are just not shared by mainstream America. I think Barry Goldwater, Jr. should have campaigned for Mitt Romney because he knew full well that Congressman Paul could not win the election. Romney needed help and many did not give it to him.

Goldwater, Jr. knew that Dr. Paul couldn't win. He said that on the news. He should have campaigned for Romney and then we would have won the election. I admire Dr. Paul but I am slightly more socially conservative and I feel that he gets too rapped up in conspiracy theories and as much as I am a constitutionalist, he puts the constitution before common sense, and that was not the intent of the founding fathers.

See, it's not about the party for people like Goldwater. Paul is not anything close to a modern-day republican--he's more like a libertarian. Going with Romney makes no sense unless all you care about is the party succeeding--which is a terrible philosophy anyway. Obama might be a blessing in disguise, because if republicans go back to Goldwater conservatism, and then take back Washington, good things should happen. They need to put aside social crap and build with strong free-market economics.
