Enslaved is a story set 150 years in the future where a global war has decimated the Earth. In this future, nearly the entire human race has been eradicated, but robots still plague the land. Although they are from a bygone era, they are still following their orders to eradicate the humans. The storyline is loosely based on the ancient Chinese novel Journey to the West.

The main character in the game is called Monkey. He has spent his entire life running from the mechs and is a solitary man. Eventually Monkey is captured by the combat mechs, where he is placed on an airship. It is there that he meets a technologically adept woman named Trip. Although they both escape the airship, Monkey gets knocked unconscious when crashing to the ground. When he comes to, he finds that Trip has placed a slaver's headband on him in order to compel him to help her get home. She explains that she has hacked the headband so she can give him jolts of pain at will; and further that if Trip's heart ever stops then the headband will kill Monkey outright. As they try to make their way back to Trip's village they must fight mechs that have been lying dormant for years. The two of them have a strained relationship but in order to survive this perilous world they need each other's help.

  • Andy Serkis, not only provides the excellent mo-cap and voice work for Monkey but gives a genuinely emphatic and moving performance and pyramid at the end. The old and decayed version of himself, blinded to reality, was disturbing - in a good way. I wish they'd had some emotional climax between Trip and Monkey before this scene but clearly the game was more focussed on the slavery relationship than that of the two protagonists. Fair play. (Nice one for Serkis for taking the industry seriously)

  • Game ended too soon, I liked the relationship between trip and monkey and I am really hoping there will be a sequel.

  • @albertjester The ending, believe it or not, almost creeped me out. Kinda like the Bad ending of Splinter Cell double agent. The music scared me so much that I was actually about to turn the T.V. off. But yes, you're right. Trip should probably stay in the kitchen where she belongs-- Wait, her village was destroyed! HAR HAR HAR HAR....

  • @retyopko I just beat this game today and I definitely agree with you...well... for the most part. That achievement kinda made me wanna punch Namco.

I just wish that this game had more of an ending. The ending was WAAAYY too subtle for me.

its fun. not as emotional as this, but has the enslaved atmosphere to it. I just love this game so much and freakin love the ending. this game is so freakin underrated.

  • @TaylorMovieCo Not yet, once I get a 360 points card, it's gonna be my first purchase ever, I can't wait to get it.
