This is my 2 ft. tornado model that I built with help from Tom Grazulis, a well known tornado researcher.

  • Can i asy you a question? Should the holes in the black pipes be oriented in a specific way and should the bottom ones be a bit bigger than the upper ones?

  • @bubbellz

the holes should all be pointed the same way and the same size

  • @terrenjpeterson I believe it is 1.7 : 1..... 2 : 1 will work for the large model. I think mine was 42 X 42 and 7.5ft high, which is about 2 to 1. The one in this video.... I'd add another 18 to 24 inches height. and see what would happen... i'll bet it would work fine.

  • @Landotter1 - what is the diameter to height ratio that you're talking about? I've tried to recreate this model and can't get the tornado to form.

  • i need help, what model is the fan running at the top because i cant find any like it on online or in stores. I would also like to know what type of ultrasonic humidifier that is, because i bought one and it produces little smoke.

  • Looks like someone else built the simulator from tornado project... I built the big one about 12 years ago. Good job man. You may consider making the tubes 1-2 feet taller. I think you will love the results!!! Remember, there is a diameter to height ratio that you can get into an unbalanced condition and it just won't work. That's the fun with this design. It leaves a lot of room for experimentation!!!! Good luck!!! Oh shine a bright light down from the top inside plenum!!!

  • Nice Work man. Your Design has inspired me to build one too. Check it out if you want so. Great work ! Greetings

  • what is the flow rate of the top pump?
