LYRICS

"Even Lonely Fools"
Jordan Gillstrom (Lyrics, Vocals, Violin)
Nathan Brown (all things Guitar)

Verse 1:
I was a smallish boy with a smirk across his face
You were just a girl whose only harmful trait was grace
I was the stupid one who never thought of that as pretty

LYE-DEE-DYE-DEE-DUM
DUM-DEE-DUM
DUM-DA-DITTY

Verse 2:
I was a freckled boy without a date for the dance
You were just a girl who was waiting for the chance
I was the stupid one who was never quite ready

LYE-DEE-DYE-DEE-DUM
DUM-DEE-DUM
DUM-DA-DITTY

Chorus:
All the time I was looking
For another girl to love
And you were standing
Waiting patient
Never cussed me out

I walked around the world
But all I ever found was you
Happiness can follow after
Even lonely fools

Verse 3:
I was a nervous boy who finally bent down on his knee
You were just a girl who was hoping I would speak
I was the stupid one who couldn't think of something witty

LYE-DEE-DYE-DEE-DUM
DUM-DEE-DUM
DUM-DA-DITTY

Verse 4:
I was the merry bloke with a cockeyed smile to show
You're the only girl who could ever make me so
I was the lucky one to have you as my steady

LYE-DEE-DYE-DEE-DUM
DUM-DEE-DUM
DUM-DA-DITTY

[violin solo]

[guitar solo]

Chorus:
All the time I was looking
For another girl to love
And you were standing
Waiting patient
Never cussed me out

I walked around the world
But all I ever found was you
Happiness can follow after
Even lonely fools

(Repeat)

Happiness can follow after
Even lonely fools...

  • This one's a keeper: And there are lonely fools aplenty that can sing a lonely song, but after a while they get back up and merrily move along.[la di dah di dah di dumb ... many of us have done the same, la di dah di dah di dumb, in true love there is no shame]

Alas, to love is to sometimes stumble about uncertain of where you're going.

  • @QuantumLeapOfFaith Maintaining perspective is certainly a healthy practice when it comes to love (and life in general). Thanks for the comment!
