When a rodeo horse named Check Mate suffered a mortal injury on July 24, rodeo announcers Kyle Shobe and Justin McKee went into their usual propaganda to make it appear that they and their fellow rodeo thugs gave a damn. Then, when they ran out of the most superficial excuses, McKee kicked it up a notch or two, or three...

After all the public assurances that everything would be alright, Check Mate paid with his life for the entertainment of narcissistic morons.

  • While some of these horses are bred to be bucking stock, many of them are horses who would have ended up at the knackers were it not for the roughstock industry. There are abusive people everywhere, so of course they will rear their ugly heads in rodeo too, but this was not abuse. Most broncs love what they do and are treated very well.

  • @Gr8tBlueHeron ""Most broncs love what they do and are treated very well."" Don't construed being forced to do something with 'loving' to do something. The animals have no choice.

  • This was a tragic accident where the lead rope ended up over the horse's neck and was still long enough that he was able to step on it, which clearly broke his neck. This is a kind of freak accident that could happen in any riding discipline.

  • @Gr8tBlueHeron Rodeo people claim to know everything about the animals better than anyone else, that they care for them like family. Yet they intentionally put that horse out there with a rope that was too long.

  • if you want this place shut down why do you go and help pay to help keep it going

  • @bamdirtbike11 We're working to stop the animal abuse. This place, any venue, shouldn't be kept going, if it can't do so without harming animals. Every time we buy a ticket, film and expose the animal abuse that takes place, more and more people are contacting us saying they will never to there or to any rodeo again, or even for the first time. Our tickets cost the rodeo money.

  • Mr Hindi, by the announcer's hallucinatory description of what a cowboy is - caring for its welfare, feeling a "God-given" love for it, putting yourself at risk, etc - then you are a cowboy in spades. More than anyone in that dirty stadium.

  • I with that announcer would shut up, he's so full of it. That horse is dying and he doesn't care because he's getting a big fat paycheck. Disgusting, horrendous, and absolutely heartless. Animal Cruelty and senseless abuse happens in Cheyenne, and I will NEVER go to another horse race, rodeo, or any type of even where animals are used for amusement in sickening ways like this.

  • @weeeeeeeeeee5 Um, do you see the horses rear legs just flapping when they turn the horse?? The horse is already injured. A broken back or broken leg. And when they flipped the horse onto the mat, you can clearly see the pointed edge of a broken bone pressing into the flank area. The horse is also most likely in shock, so that would freeze him up, not to mention the pain he would've been in. Have you ever broken a bone?? I have, and common sense/instinct told me not to move.

  • @jmeans544 You are saying killing an animal for fun and prizes is acceptable because animals are killed for food?
