Members of the Disabled Peoples' Direct Action Network occupy Birmingham City Councils Housing and Social Services Department. The action was organised by Birmingham DAN to protest over Direct Payments and Housing conditions for Disabled People in the city. Members of DAN from across the country joined and occupied the building for almost three hours until their demands for a meeting with Council officials were granted. Members of Birmingham DAN are due to have the first meeting on Friday 3rd April (2009).
There has never been any prosecution under Part M of the 1985 Building Act although it is broken every day throughout the UK.

Well done DAN!
Please remember that it's not just Birmingham City Council that are guilty but most local authorities ignore the rights of homeless and disabled people all over the country in a spiral of failure of abuse - Salford and Manchester are just as bad.
