    Slavery was horrible, no doubt about it. However, according to the 1860 U.S. Census, only 5% of Whites owned a slave(s); and they were usually the elites. Also, from the current 65% European-American population, around 40% descend from Ellis Island immigrants, who had no blame in slavery.

    So, to blame whites as a whole is absurd, and quite racist in itself. In fact, there were blacks who owned slaves in Louisiana, but I'm sure you don't want to discuss that.
