As part of my effort to get the "powers that be" to bring arguably the best Android PDF reader to the Nook Color (i.e.; through B&N's app store), here's a demo of ezPDF Reader on a rooted Nook Color. Again, this is arguably the ultimate PDF reader for Android (much slicker and more stable than the 2nd best PDF reader for Android IMO, Repligo Reader).

In short, Nook Color + ezPDF Reader = awesome.

Again, note though there is currently no (legal, safe, and/or easy) way to get ezPDF Reader onto a Nook Color, as the app requires persistent Android Market access for license verification checks. If you'd like to demo this yourself, be aware that any apk of this app you download will likely have had someone hack into the code to disable the license check; however, be warned that it's not all they might have changed.

If you'd like to see ezPDF Reader on the Nook Color, please contact Unidocs (www.unidocs.com), the company behind this app, and ask them to make it available on B&N's app store! You can email (info@unidocs.com) or tweet (@ezpdf) them. I do NOT work for and am NOT affiliated with this company; I just want to see a good PDF reader solution on an e-reader before I freaking die (and I know I'm not the only one).

  • @cowgirlamberlee: Thanks for watching! You can get ezPDF Reader through the Android Market. Android Market is fully working on the rooted Nook Color, and if you used the fully scripted rooting method available from the nookdevs wiki, Android Market should've been setup for you. Just search for "ezPDF" once you're in the Market, and you'll find it. It's 99 cents though, so you'll need a credit card to buy it. Let me know if you have any other questions or problems!

  • it would be awesome if you gave commentary instead of having a song playing.

  • @sugarkang: Thanks for the feedback! I always preferred music and text over listening to reviewers drone on (sometimes about random things haha), so I guess that was my mindset for these vids. It just seems like it's easier to get your point across more concisely through text, but maybe that's not the way to go here. I'll definitely consider your suggestion for any future vids. Thanks!

  • But can it work with a Google Books PDF? Try Success: A Novel. Google for my post "Google Books PDF Smackdown: NookColor Vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab Vs. iPad" for link.

  • @mikecane2008: Hi. I tried your Google Book, and ezPDF Reader handles it fine, albeit a little slow: it takes 2-3 seconds to render each page. I also tried Adobe Reader 10.0.0 (the newest one from Market) and BeamReader 1.2.0, and they also opened the Google Book fine, but have their own quirks. The Quickoffice PDF viewer and Repligo Reader just display big X's. I'll do a comparison video and post it up some time this week.

  • @zomgRAINBOW I think one way to look at is that if half the people ignore your commentary, then at least half the people are listening to your thoughts on the product. Whereas background music is guaranteed to help nobody learn about the product and even less likely that they will have the same taste in music.

  • You don't need to root it. It's in the NOOK Shop.

  • @zomgRAINBOW

i bough this app but it did not have dictionary, great if it has, it's important since lots of people (like me) read as ESL

  • Someone's learning assembly language ;)

  • How long can you read pdf files? 8hours? Rooted Nook color's battery drains quickly right?

  • Thanks for posting this. I recently purchased this app for my Nook Color and I haven't been able of find an instruction manual on-line for it. Your video was a great help in making use of this app.

  • please don't use the same type of music again

  • Great demo, thanks! Is there an app that runs on a rooted nook (without the substantial amount of effort required to get ezpdf working) that supports text highlighting and annotations? Don't need a lot of those other features, but being able to highlight, annotate and bookmark is important to me.

    Any recommendations?

  • Maybe, I'm praying, that you can help me out. I am trying to open password protected pdf files through the ezpdf reader, and while it does show "username" and "password" it will not allow me to select and open. The discription for this app does say that it will open password protected pdfs... maybe I am just doing something wrong? If anyone has any useful advice, please share, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks :-)

  • Ignore the voice comments i would rather read and look i hate all these tutorials on youtube with all these nerds annoying voices!!

  • Is great that aplication i will use it right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
