This serious flood occured on April 16, 2003 and affected Hurley, WI. & Ironwood, MI. It wiped out one bridge which required replacement and caused many evacuations. As fate would have it, there were no serious injuries or loss of life - not on this day. This was the fifty or hundred year flood and it did bring with it much stress and anxiety. But is was unusual in that it snowed most of March and on April 12 or 13 the temperature shot up to the mid 80's and remained there for a week, The river could not contain the melting snow.
Thanks for the up close look!
I live in Ironwood, but never had a chance to go and really see what was happening.
And is that Andrea Bocelli??

You have a finely tuned ear. Yes it is Andrea Bocelli and as you probably know both pieces in the video are Puccini and the Boccelli one is Nessun Dorma. I am glad you picked that out!

I grew up in Ironwood just up the road from here on W.Ayer St. My uncle was affected by this flood. His house is behind the alley. I even lived in that brick building on the main street while in college. This area is known as the 'flats' to us. All of us neighborhood kids used to play along the Montreal river right next to my uncle's house. My dad worked for a while at the brick garage shown, and I even painted the sign on it! I never expected to see a video for this on youtube!

Well thank you for commenting. You never know what will pop up next on You Tube. In your case I am glad you found the video and it brought back memories. I have some other events from the area that will show a good amount of the culture & people, maybe you will recognize someone you know.
