Caste Wars - India

November 1994 - A woman in a brightly coloured sari crawls through a field of goats and cows with her gun at the ready. She is from India's poorest caste - the 'untouchables' - who have long been at the bottom of the heap. They are fighting back. Young 'untouchable' women are learning to kill. They are gaining self-respect and, most importantly, protection in a hostile world. Higher castes are also arming their people after repeated attacks. Villagers speak of terror campaigns. As India's ruling party faces crucial state polls the country's battle lines are being drawn not only by religion but caste. Politicians can no longer afford to ignore the lower caste majority. This film examines the plight of the 'untouchables' and how they're helping themselves to an improved life.

i love watching the news 17 years late

I saw a person comment a few Jounrney man videos ago, It was in regards to people complaining about the time in which these were produced and recorded. If you dont learn from the past histroy can & Will repeat itself. Learn from these gems into the past because were lucky to have them. I for one love Journeymans documentaries new or old because of the places people and situations they present to us. So Stfu :) and learn, Ignorance is ,but should not always be bliss. Fools....

Bodhidharma tought the Chinese medicine and Kong Fu coz he did not like to share with Indian as indians are highly obsess with caste.If indian learnt kongfu, kongfu would have been used beat up lower rank caste.If they have learnt medicine,there would have been another additional caste called "medicine caste". See now how the chinese prospered through BodhiDharma teachings.If he had thought to indians, India would have been a more messy with caste problems.Most concentrations spent on caste.
