MJ planned the hoax years ago & when the time was right, he did it. I didn't believe in the hoax until I saw TII - the cutscene (where MJ slides down the stairs - 5:59 in this video) shot in black & white was proof enough for me. He is reenacting a scene from the movie "Gilda", about a man who fakes his own death to escape the Nazis - watch closely when you get to that scene in the DVD - MJ wants those who are true fans to know that he faked his death just like the character in Gilda.
