This video will show you how to adjust the mechanical Governor on any small engine. They all adjust using the same instructions.

  • @Vid

    Good vid.

But what would be the point of adjusting the governor?

  • The governor can be out of adjustment due to wear, vibration, time and tampering. Symtoms would be not taking a load very well, lugging down when blades engaged and only idle or wide open.

  • Great help but can you show where both springs should be located at the back of the bracket please. One on my engine is as shown on your vidio but the other above it seems too loose to do much good

  • @IFIXIT4U great vid, thanks. Can you show how to reconnect the throttle to the governor? I took mine apart to get the carb cleaned and am not sure how to get it back together. Thanks,

  • can you blew the engine up with with full throttle like this

  • good video , cheers

  • good job.

  • Great info, thanks for taking the time to show us.

  • I have the same engine, Platinum 18.5HOHV V-twin with the turbo cooling etc, I need to remove the governor any ideas?

  • this guy is great the briggs book tells you the exact opposite and the book is WRONG this vidio saved me a trip to the repair site Thank YOU

  • Got rid of the v twin and got a 15 kohler. Nice and clean now. Thx

  • @Piezonno You may have some water in the gas, making what looks like smoke but is steam. Its also likely that your rings on your piston are worn, or your cylinder is scored(scratched) wich lets oil by.
