In this business tv show, expert Stefan Tornquist, Research Director of Marketing Sherpa, reveals three things that a website must have if you want it to draw traffic, get that traffic to stick on the site, and make sales:
"Well I think the advice that would apply to anyone, whether you're selling to huge companies or to consumers is to really simplify your website. I think a lot of us come into the online world from a traditional background we want things to be beautiful, we want things to be exciting especially if we have a compelling brand that we sort of, shown through the website but the more research we do the more, well at least I'm convinced that complicity and ease of use are really, they're not just the important thing online, they are the only thing and the more we do, the more we see that simple websites with clean text people can instantly access and where the message and the action and the product is very easy to find, very easy to buy those are the sights that do very well so that's the first piece of advice.
The second would be, clearly search has dramatically changed the way that all of use the web and marketers need to be highly conscious of that, we need to design our websites from the ground up to be friendly to the search engines because there's nothing that pays better than a high natural search ranking. I'm sure all of you no but of course every website, every search website has a paid component and a natural component and that natural component is built by spiders crawling the web that look for content that is relevant so your site needs to be relevant in that topic area, whatever it is you sell, you need to have content on that site that is linked to it and the most important factor in raising your search ranking isn't mega tags and it isn't how you can describe yourself its how the rest of your site reflects your success in being relevant.
So the way that Google does that for instance, the primary way is by checking to see if other sites that they consider relevant in your topic area link to you because everyone of those links is an endorsement by a valued resource so if you sell shoes and bloggers who right about shoes link to your website your ranking is going to go up and that's absolutely vital, whether you're a new brand and or one that's been around forever.
Finally and this is really unsexy is to not forget about email. I think all of us in our own lives may have a sense that you know my inbox is flooded with irrelevant material, is this still a compelling part of marketing, it absolutely is.
Only house email, email to people given, voluntarily given you their emails, it's the only really good way online of creating a two way communication. Most companies do email very badly even those see high return for what they invest. The companies that do it right, it's by far in a way the most successful tactic in terms of return on investment."

It's important to find a balance between making things look exciting and interesting, but making them simple for people to use.

lol i love louises comment the kiss principal like the kiss diet seems simple but often takes more skill and dedication. Simple websites are great but navigation is the key to success and people enjoying your website

Simplicity definetely is key, there's nothing worse than finding a website for a great business but not being able to find your way around the site easily.
