Set in the Royal India of the past, La Bayadère is a story of eternal love, mystery, fate, vengeance, and justice. The ballet relates the drama of a temple dancer (bayadère), Nikiya, who is loved by Solor, a noble warrior. She is also loved by the High Brahmin, but does not love him in return, as she does Solor.
Performed by Houston Ballet. Dancers: Jim Nowakowski and Artists of Houston Ballet.

@Eye4dance - I don't think this dancer is supposed to be the golden/bronze idol character - the music is the "Danse des fakirs" in Minkus's original score, from the first tableau.

This is such an amazing dance with an amazing dancer! This is the fire dancer so he is not suppost to be in gold, for that comes later in the show.

@Eye4dance - this is not supposed to be the Golden Idol (which is why the music is different)

He's not gold! ? Make up too toxic? headpiece... hmmm... Hard to look at the dancing when so distracted by the change in costume... A bit part of this moment in the ballet is that the golden statue is alive... this is just a guy in some sort of strange costume.. nice dancer.. but it's not the same without the gimmick.
