A quick review of the Ping Anser Forged Irons.

Clarifications and corrections:
1. Lower ball flight from being a forged "blade" with stronger lofts compared to other Ping irons.
2. First set is blue dot, not red.
3. Both shafts are stiff flex which are suited for faster swing speeds, but the S300 is less stiff compared the Rifle 6.0s making them better for slightly slower swing speeds.

Main Specs:
Forged 8620 Steel w/ tungesten sole weight
Machined conforming grooves
Milling marks on the face
Hollow sole cavity

Setups reviewed:
Set 1 (spring, rainy, range):
4-PW
Blue dot, standard length
Dynamic Gold S300 shafts
Golf Pride Tour Velvet BCT grips
Ping iWedge 54 and 58

Set 2:
3-PW (summer, fall, good weather)
Red dot, 1/4'' longer
Project X Rifle Precsion 6.0 shafts
Golf Pride Multi Compund grips
Ping Tour S wedges 50, 56, 60

Pricing CAD (based on Golf Town prices):
Irons $187.49/ iron
3-PW total $1499.92
Golf Pride Multi Compound grips $8.99/grip
8 grips total $71.92
Golf Pride Tour Velvet BCT grips $11.99/grip
7grips total $83.93

Recommendations:
I recommend to get these irons with Project X shafts and GP multi compound grips. If you can't get them fitted, then try and use Ping's webfit.

If your looking for a Ping that doesn't "dig" in to the ground, gives good feedback, and can easily get the ball in the air, these are for you!!!

Notes:
These irons do not have matching wedges, and the only wedges Ping have made so far this year are the Tour S wedges. These will cost $129.99 CAD per wedge.

  • you just gained a new subscriber im in the market for new clubs i have old powerbilt citations that are showing some slight wear and rust :( they were enjoyable to use

  • @spartansfan5 if the rust isnt too bad, and you want to keep them for a while longer you can always use fine sand paper or fine steel wool. Otherwise, the Ansers are amazing :)

  • @aliencookies thank you i subbed there is specks or rust throughout the head i dont like the ansers price i think im going to get the taylormade burner plus or the nike sq machspeed set do you have any expierence with either of them? Thanks for all the help

  • @spartansfan5 hmmm...havent played either. but i have played nike irons (slingshots) before and personally i did not like them, drivers are alright though. I guess it depends, for me the more game improvement irons (lrg cavity, wider sole, wider topline) always screwed me up mentally, but if you are used to playing those then i see no problem getting them (just try them out before you buy). but if you want something less "clunky" you can look at the callaway x-forged they are heavily reduced now

  • @spartansfan5 as im more biased towards ping... i looked on golfsmith website and the i15s are also at a good deal 599.99 (200$ off). adams idea tech a4 hybrid combo looks promising too for 249.99 (construction is somewhat similar to the ansers 8620 steel, milled grooves, looks thin, but 4 cavities instead of 3, and not sure if its forged).

  • why do you have two sets/

  • @chrissey1996 wasn't planning to, but got a good deal on both and wanted to try the different shafts.

  • @guitarteacher1993 you can pick them up used for around $300-$350 and they are great irons. also the mizuno mp-30s or mp-60s are great irons as well that i found preform similarly to the ansers as well as the s58s. the mp-60s are imo a little bit better than the 30s, but the 30s are still very nice. i got my mp-60s for $200 in excellent shape but with mismatched grips. (they were priced at $250 but i was able to knock $50 off due to the grips). not sure if any of that helped but good luck to you

  • @spartansfan5 may be a little late on this to give any advise but just in case i'll give it a shot. i've played a few rounds with the burner plus irons and i found them to be a little dull feel wise and i couldn't get as much shape to my shots as i like to have but i found that they do hit very straight even on slight miss hits. i don't have any real course experience with the nikes though, so i can't help much there. but if you are looking for irons similar to the ansers try the ping s58s...
