"I start off by shutting off both engines"
I don't know what'd I'd do next, but it wouldn't involve rolling my airplane or pouring tea.

On 1/24/12, Bob celebrated his 90th birthday. Happy Birthday, Bob!!
I've seen him perform his air show routine many times, and it was always a thrill to watch!

@smrgolfer Yeah, it'd involve tea...coming back up.

I have personally seen Bob Hoover perform his dead stick loop. Truly precise.

DO A BARREL ROLL
-
Actually, a barrel role is never a 1G maneuver, only a properly executed aileron roll is.
-
Bob Hoover aint no joke in the cockpit of his Shrike!! A legend right there!
-
Negative, during a barrel roll the G-force is kept positive, but NOT constant, between about 0.5 and 3.
The reasons why he manage to fill the glass are basically 2:
1) the G-force is kept positive (although not constant);
2) the resultant force is kept parallel to the airplane's yaw axis, thanks to his amazing flying skills. That's why the liquid inside the glass is steady like it was on a kitchen table.

bob is the 'man" when it comes to being a pilot! he hung out in my front yard one time checking out my home made centrifuge. 20yrs earlier, I got to sit right, seat after his show at reno air races with the engines still crackling... will never forget that! He had quite a show with the nazis in america ... (FAA)

how he cab manage to full the glass with tea during inverted flight??

Because if you do it correctly, the forces on the plane remain at 1G.

This Guy is the same who rolled a Boeing 707 during firsts flight test decades ago!
LOSBEST 2 years ago
Nah, the guy that roled the B707 was a Boeing test pilot named Alvin "Tex" Johnston. Close though, Johnston was a Bell test pilot like Bob.
