I watched this on Blu-ray at a friends house recently and I was amazed. The movie in a word can be described as, fun! It's been a long time since I simply enjoyed a movie and everything about this movie is fun and enjoyable.

How to watch REDLINE!
Get the DVD, a projector, a DVD player, surroundsound and turn up the volume. That is they best way to experience REDLINE.

vp21ct sums it up. The first time seeing this is an experience, and will still entertaining on subsequent viewings (there's so many details you won't catch the first time around) that first time feels like such an event.

Sir, I can only nod in aggreement to what you said, it just describes it perfectly!
Great review dude. I felt basically exactly the same way.
I would comment that when you say the characters do not defy convention, it gives the impression that the characters aren't very surprising or unique, which I'm sure you'd agree is unfair to almost all the racers, like Trava and Shinkai, he Boion twins, Miki and Todoroki and especially Little Deyzuna (the huge, crying guy). I feel you might have meant that the main characters (JP, sonoshee do not defy convention, which certainly true.

@kingjamie2 - I was referring to most of the characters, as their archetypes can be found in almost all racing films, but I totally agree with you. I didn't mean to put across that the characters aren't surprising or unique, which is why I noted the character design and also said they give the film it's flavour and are amazing to behold on screen, but I probably should have worded that part better. The characters are without a doubt one of the most exciting and enjoyable aspects of the film.

Awesome review. Where did you watch it? I like to watch something before I buy it so I wanted to ask if you knew anywhere I could watch this because I am very interested. :D

@DKJosh27 - I saw it at the Baribcan in London back in February. It has had quite a few cinema screenings in the UK and there'll probably be a few more screenings before its DVD release in September. If you don't manage to catch it at the cinema though, its Japanese DVD and Blu-ray release isn't until August so won't be able to watch it until then at the earliest. Truthfully I probably reviewed this a little too early, but I wanted to raise as much awareness as I could before its release.
