This is an upgrade of a previously posted video. I rebuilt the Alfred video with some better editing.
In September of 2007 we were filling bird feeders when an inquisitive White Breasted Nuthatch came to visit. We held out some nuts and seeds in our hands and almost immediately he was willing to come and take the food right from our hands.
This little bird has been coming around almost every day for over two years. Walnuts and raw peanuts are his favorites. He enjoys black sunflower seeds, too, which he hides in the bark of a tree. We named him "Alfred" after one of our favorite movie directors.
The song, Happy Girl Blues, was written by Kathy Martin and produced by Greg McNeil.

Ok, that was a fun video. i love Nuthatches, they have such character. On Vancouver island we only have the red breasted nuthatch but it looks and acts pretty much the same. A real feisty guy!
