UC Merced's PAA Presents Barrio Fiesta: Spoken Word by Ruby (part 5 of 8)

Gaining the attention of the hypest, rowdiest hip-hop crowds is a long-coveted feat. Even some emcees havent figured it out yet. But Ruby has, and she doesnt even need to shout in order to do it. With a voice that could soothe an audience as easily as it could shred it to pieces, Ruby certainly demonstrates how she can hold it down as iLL-Literacys only female member every time she grabs the mic. Each poem is its own collective of words gently placed like timebombs, rupturing inside of audiences with utter precision.

With complex track records in the poetry, music, television, and fashion worlds, Ruby personifies the pure beauty of poetry. Her ability to intertwine personal tales with universal imageries has won the hearts of listeners internationally.

Having spent extensive time in the Bay Area, New York City, Italy, and the Philippines, Ruby brings a worldly insight that is rare among her counterparts. Ruby has brought her breath-taking spoken word shows to venues throughout the United States and Europe, and in 2007 was featured in the nationally-televised Re:Vision campaign. Holding the experience as a host for breakthrough TV show SociaLush, an assistant at Jive Records, and a model for some of todays hottest new fashion lines, Ruby is taking the world by storm from all angles.
