In the Fall of 2010 in southwest Colorado, abandoned mine tailings were removed from the bank of Mineral Creek, north of Silverton. The Animas River Stakeholders Group partnered with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety to reduce the amount of lead, copper and zinc from entering the Upper Animas Watershed.
