After gathering oil from our massive geyser, it is time to convert all that black stuff into fuel, an infinitely more useful substance in Buildcraft.

I had not dabbled into using engines to generate power in Buildcraft before, so you can see me learning right before your very eyes!

One final note, I'll be switching everything to fuel-based power from here on out as time permits.

Enjoy!

  • btw, a refinery runs optimally with 8 combustion engines running on fuel powering it :3

(so 3 refineries would ideally use 24 comb engines on fuel.)

Also, even with all those engines running, fuel is so efficient you still turn a big profit, fuel-wise.

  • @fuduzan5562 Thx. Yeah, ever since I filled my fuel tanks, I have not had to run my refineries in quite awhile. :) Fuel is just so damn efficient!

  • How you got constant water supply to comb engines? I have 2 combustion engines (running on fuel) powering the pump which is cooling powerplant engines (12 of them), and still I can't get constat supply of water which causes my powerplant engines to overheat every 5-10 minutes

  • @vlado1591992 As someone else pointed out to me and I can confirm now, a combustion engine-driven water pump can supply enough water to cool about 3 combustion engines (+ the one that is pumping the water). So, for 12 engines, you will need 4 water pumps.

  • Redstone engines dont explode !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @vagegast37 So I keep hearing...

  • @chemdork123 i use 3 comb engines on each water pump, i use 5 pumps for 5 oil tanks to pump the oil out, then i have 1 engine on each refinery to pump the fuel to a fuel tank, so my water engines actually over heat before my fuel/oil ones do, so my refinery set up is very efficient, i just need to remove 1 engine on each water pump, yes my setup is more complex and the new players to buildcraft wouldn't understand it, and it took more time since it is more complex...

  • @chemdork123 They CAN explode, but only if they have nothing drawing their power. (Just like anything else. Only difference is that redstone engines are totally used if they're used at ALL, whereas partial use of a combustion engine, for example, isn't enough to prevent overheat.)

  • thanks

  • @vlado1591992 not 4, typo :P meant 5, or even 6 pumps

  • @chemdork123 Thanks for the answer :) altough it will be 4 since I expanded powerplant to 16 comb engines

Love your vids, hope you will make new ones soon (I'm really wondering what you will make next after charcoal factory) :D
