About this piece: Some musicians just captivate me. John Lambert (aka Chequerboard) is one of them. I'd recommend to anyone who likes solo guitar music to 'cheque' him out. : ) His melodies are magical.

Here is the link to the piece:

He hasn't named it yet (still a work in progress I believe). I wouldn't say that my rendition is a cover at all. It's more a variation on the melodies within the piece. If you listen to the original, you'll see that it is much more calm than my variation (in fact, there's lots of differences).

At first, I was planning on doing a proper cover. However, my Line 6 DL4 only loops for 14 seconds and John creates a much longer loop. There were a couple other restrictions as well. (Though, I've realised with the bass that restrictions can often times be a good thing as they can lead to something interesting.) Anyway, I ended up looping just the chorus (I create the loop at the start of the piece).

Hope you like it!

  • i've been playing bass for about a year. I felt talented before i saw this. The inspiration you have given me is indescribable in every possible way. Please for the love of god, make another album!

  • @lkfreak1234

    will do! :)

  • may i ask what your DL4 settings are?

i am in love with your tone !!!!!!!

  • @chandlerfender

i'm not using any of the settings on my dl4 - i'm only using it for looping. : )

  • Everytime I listen to one of your songs it's like I can't do anything else than sit and listen. It draws my whole attention to it in a trance like state of mind. Nothing else ever catches me like that. And I think that's the greatest compliment I could ever make a musician.

  • thanks for the kind words, everyone!

  • @lkfreak1234 I love popping bass strings. Then smooth out,and do it again. It gives an exact metron of space in any sound.Hence tells u if in step or out of range instantly.

  • That song and your cover of A time for us are really beautiful, I would love a studio version on your next album.

    Cheers from Quebec Canada

  • You are in the wrong business. If this were like a techno trance song it would be a real hit.

  • Could you share the tuning on this song? I just broke a string trying to figure out what it is. lol

  • How are you getting those harmonics over the 3rd fret??? I keep trying but they dont pierce through like yours do!
