How to Install Mac OS X Lion 10.7 [Developer Preview] (FREE)

Welcome to my FULL tutorial on how to download and install Mac OS X Lion 10.7 Beta onto your Mac without replacing your other OS and files. This means you can dual boot either Lion or your other Mac operation system. What we do is create a new partition and re-install the original OS on it. Then, we install Lion on the same partition. We have to do it this way because it's impossible to install Lion on an empty partition.

Here are the steps you need to follow in order to download and install 10.7 :

1. Download the torrent from the website
2. Launch it using your BitTorrent client such as uTorrent, Frostwire, Vuze, etc.
3. Let it download for a few minutes
4. When finished, open up the .dmg file and exit.
5. Open up disk utility
6. Click on " mac_os_x_10_7_11a390.dmg "
7. Insert a blank DVD and click on Burn
8. Once finished burning, eject the disc
9. Go back to disk utility and click on your internal hard drive
10. Go to the partition tab
11. Click on Macintosh HD and add a new partition for Lion
12. Rename it to whatever you want and leave the format default
13. Adjust the size to your needs and click Apply.
14. When done partitioning, insert your original install DVD and turn off your Mac
15. Turn on your Mac and old "c" while booting up.
16. Follow the steps to install the original OS on the new partition
17. Now that your running the original OS, eject the disc.
18. Insert your Lion Beta DVD and shutdown your Mac again.
19. Power it on and old "c" while booting up.
20. Install it on your new partition, where we just installed the original OS
21. It will automatically reboot and start running 10.7
22. That's it!

Now you can go to your System Preferences and click on Startup Disk and set the OS you want to boot when you power on your computer. If you need to go in the other OS, simply hold the Option/ALT key while booting up. It is normal that Lion crashes often, it's still in beta and that's why I do not recommend to install it on your main OS.
