After reading these posts, I can tell many of you have never deep dropped. Notice its a power assist reel . You have the option to enjoy the fight and crank if you like. If your fishing for a big grouper you have to get him out of the wreck fast or your going to loose the fish..The reel gives you that instant power. Also the fight is over after 100 feet, then the fish air bladder expands and its just dead weight...so why not use the electric and save your arms. Makes sense,

i can understand for retrieving bait but thats it, its not sport fishing if it jigs for you, and definitely not if it fights the fish for you thats just ridicules

id rather drop a 12/0 or a 14/0 down and reel it in my self no electric shit to reel it in for me

Depends on how it's used. It's designed to assist retrieval, not replace it.
How can that guy say it's exiting it's really not coz you don't actualy have to do anything it is the true American way of fishing it's just lazy an it takes the sport out of fishing :(

This is great for the drops where you don't catch anything, just flip the switch and bring in the slack. There's no sport in cranking up 700 feet of line with nothing on it.
