  • Ah! The delight of wading through a stream in the woods, to the sound of water, wind in the trees, and the squish as we hit a muddy patch. Great joy to find a deeper pool of clear water with a sandy bottom, to wade in deep enough to feel the pressure of the water on your feet and legs, yet keeping dry and not flooding your boots; then to stand quite still and watch small fish and other aquatic animals, almost to become part of the stream. Thank you, Kate.

  • Hi Jack

i can almost hear your Dublin accent as you describe your joy of walking in squishy mud! I love it! You are one of the nature spirits that still pretend to be humans!! :) (me too!)

  • your so cool...wow cute feet and wet sox ,i love it!!!i'm from montreal and i love your videos... ;-)

  • Continuing ... Lower down, the stream flows over boulders, with frequent pools, often shaded by overhanging trees or bushes. Making your way up that stream, without getting boot-full of cold water, is a challenge! But the water is so pure and clear anyway, that it doesn't matter if a pool which cannot be avoided is just that bit too deep!

  • Hi Kate

True, I love the wet natural places of this planet, though most of those I explored were in Ireland. Where I live is surrounded by lakes, with a few slow-flowing midland rivers. In the west and south-west we have torrential streams pouring down from mountains (not very high mountains -- only 500 to 700 metres !), and it's great fun attempting to follow a stream up as far as where it begins as a trickle, emerging from a small hollow and flowing between moss-covered rocks.
