The version that Al Martino's fan club sent me attached to an E Mail did not have this lush orchestral backing. It did have a very odd warbling sound though, as though Al was singing from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean :-)
Believe it or not this is not the 1959 hit version recorded on 20th Fox records,that was a much slower paced version.This was rerecorded by AL on the CAPITOL LP "WE COULD"in the mid 60s.
glad to know you all love this song. It's my grandfather tune, Aldo Provenzano and I have loved it for years.

Lovely, thank you very much. I served with the RAF in Cyprus in 1960. The forces radio station played this continually :-)
