I've always loved this song ever since I was a teenage Slade fan and found it on the reverse of "The Whole World's Going Crazee" If you're interested, I do an acoustic version of it, for which I'll put the link on here. If it doesn't work, just look for the video by searching for 610210jc1
I'm also amazed to find this. I also bought it in the magazine, and then learned how to play it... I still have the flexidisk somewhere. There's a cleaned up version elsewhere on YouTube, but along with losing the crackles, it lost some of the magic.
I too remember getting the flexi single in 1972 from the Music Scene mag. Only really got it because I was a huge Slade fan at the time, but I have always remembered the song from time to time. It really does have a haunting somewhat melancholic quality. Nice One
Like the other comments hereI first heard this on a freebie flexi-disc given away by a defunct UK music mag called Music Scene (RIP) in Nov '72, where it was promoted as a sample track from Mike Hugg's album 'Somewhere' on Polydor. tThe other side was 'The whole world's going Crazy' by Slade.
Have held onto the single for 38 yrs and my version's as crackly (and treasured) as yours.
I have also been looking for this song for years!!
I was beginning to think I had imagined it! I could not find any reference to the song anywhere - yet I could hear it in my head sooooo clearly from way back in the early 70's!
OMG I can't believe I've finally heard this again after so many years.....I had this on one of those little flexi- discs you got free on the cover of NME and Melody Maker in the early 70's. Even 30-odd years later I can still sing this song word for word. This is a rare and fabulous little track and I am eternally grateful to you for putting it up on here....<3
This achingly beautiful song comes from his stunning 1972 album on polydor called Somewhere, a good title considering it aint available anywhere, and would be in many cd collection if it were, the record companies gripe about being ripped off by pirates, when it is the ONLY way you can get hold of this album, my heart bleeds for them , RELEASE IT NOW you bastards !

such a beautiful sad song, thanks for uploading :) For some reason I thought that it was Joe Cocker who sang this song. Now I know different.
