They are very, very different guitars but its simple as this: Do you enjoy more playing Rock and saturated stuff(distortion etc) or do you like better clean and overdriven sounds? if you wanna rock please take the SG home right away, if your more a clean guy, jazz blues, bossa nova, r&b, soul w.e.. take the strat, and also... getting a nice nice strat tone aint an easy task.

Nicely put! Humbuckers are great for rock and roll, but you can pretty much use em for anything really. :p

But strat is fun to play too cause the single coil sound is very unique. I've even played heavy metal on a strat and it did sound really damn great. :D

@christiandx3 - Sweet, very, very nice!!!! - The only thing that you lacked on was the very first bend at the very beginning of the solo. You didn't bend the strings enough to get to the final note of the phrase. Other than that, it was heavenly!!!! What kind of amp were you using? Pedals? What did you use for the overdrive sound??? KEEP IT UP!!!!!

@marieview You'll never go wrong with a good strat... and if you want the best of both worlds, chances are you'd only use a humbucker pickup in the bridge position for rock and stuff like that, so get a Strat with a HB in the bridge if versitility is what you're after... I have a JM strat and a standard Mexico strat that I cut the pickguard on and added an HB... Both are AWESOME for everything you'd want to play
