Though many years have passed, including a World War, these two reunite for an amazing Tour de force performance! Spectacular choreography, glamour and a questionable outcome.

  • I have never seen this before, although my mother use to talk about George Raft dancing the Bolero. She was 20 at the time of this film. He did appear on TV in the '50s dancing to it but it was a different style. I thought it odd since I had known him only in gangster roles. Also, I did not know that Carole Lombard was his partner in the original. What choreography. What a team!

  • @dbm4ol7xg I've heard so many conflicting things about this video that I posted! My grandmother told me she watched George Raft dance for nickels in New York many years ago. Though he was a sensational dancer, it's possible that the "long" shots were filmed by doubles. At this stage I'm not sure it matters anymore. These 2 beautiful people will always be thought of in this exotic performance. Grateful to hear from you!

  • Can someone name the song they dance to.

  • @1983CUEVAS "Boléro" is a one-movement orchestral piece by Maurice Ravel (1875–1937.) He was a musical genius! I'm so honored that you asked! Thanks so much for your inquiry!

  • Sexy, sizzling, sensuous, smouldering, stunning and sensational historic

footage. Thank you varadero for the GREAT posting and to LadyRavenhaire

    for sharing!

  • @Kievest I'm over the top just hearing from you! Not to lessen the impact and my gratitude for LadyRavenhaire, but needed to know if you're still in "The Borough of Churches?" I'm hoping you still remember me! I've been to the two best "Atlantic Avenue" locations in the world! Oddly enough, the first was "Avenida Atlantica," in Rio. The next one was in the beloved "Brooklyn, NY!" Hoping you're both well! Please write if you remember me, OK? Hugs to LadyRavenhaire!

  • @varadero1839 Yes. This is quite an athletic dance. Raft is obviously a slender man of maybe 150 pounds, and she must have been about 110 pounds; and it takes a lot of strength to do some of the maneuvers, especially the part where she leans backwards on his arm and he twirls her in mid-air. Man, I love it !!!

  • Love the movie , the song, and this dance scene,,,real passion!

  • so... this is a Pre-Code film.

  • I love watching this clip. This was just wonderful to watch. Loved George Raft and Carole. Too bad she died so young.
