  • My dad was a product of his generation (the 30s&40s). He struggled with learned prejudices. When Denny came on singing this song, I was just all google-eyed. He told me that he had trouble dealing with his white daughter having a crush on a black singer. I said that I didn't see Denny the black singer, I saw Denny the singer. I was ready for a fight, but he hugged me and said "Then I raised you better than I was." He finally overcame his prejudices, and I'd like to think it was because of Denny.

  • @Shiftkitty : I don't remember being raised to like or dislike any color of the rainbow. I do know that I never once saw Dennis as black. I knew he was black but I just saw him as an extremely talented singer and dancer. When he croons **sighs** I just love it.

  • That's Dennis Greene!! An outstanding singer, dancer who does a wonderful job on this and any song he sings!

  • @gerald532009 : FANTABULOUS singer and dancer. On my Hot Sox album when he sings Maybe old fashioned I just melt. Oh and dreams come true the line about how friends laugh at my dreams and spoil all my schemes just makes me cry. Just makes me wanna go kick whoevers ass it is he sings about ya know?

  • @Foofsmom You probably weren't from his neck of the woods, then (Arizona backwoods). The ironic thing is that he wasn't white, either. He was of Hispanic heritage. My mom was white, and they considered us white, which is fine by me if I MUST have a label, and believe me I'm rolling my eyes over the concept! (Mom later confessed to having had a crush on Nat King Cole!) I've always believed that racism is ugly in any color. I am very happy that my dad overcame it, even if it took him a while! :)

  • Danny can take me home anytime ;) well in heaven

  • I love this...one of their best!
