Opening title track from Lou Donaldson's "Blues Walk" album. Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey on July 28, 1958. Lou Donaldson (alto saxophone); Herman Foster (piano); Peck Morrison (bass); Dave Bailey (drums); Ray Barretto (congas).

  • I Love It! Saw Lou in concert in NC at Duke a few years ago He was amazing for an 80+ year old man Also he had dinner in my home a few years earlier around 2004

  • Great LP cover of a "blues walk" by Lou!

    Lou's music just flows so nicely - moreso on dates like this, without a prodding trumpeter to egg him on - the tune just ends so quickly, you've got to play it a few times more, in order to catch every nuance in the solos. The congas of the late, great Ray Barretto are a genius idea, esp. with Ray exchanging eights with Dave Bailey.

    An instant favorite tune!
