here are two techniques for double sword spinning in a downward motion
the first, you spin the swords in unison
the second, more complex adding an extra cicular motion
I stumbled upon this second one by accident, then recognized it from some other videos and broke it down for you

  • where can you get those training swords

  • @MrC2See just Google 'foam bokken' and you can find lots

  • @eteune thats because the basic idea is not a technique it's a style, just like alot of throws used in judo

  • @chablehh actually, a human being with two hands and two weapons will eventually discover which movements are useful within the limited number of movements possible in the human form. It's the common physical body and the limitations imposed by our common joints and limbs that causes the similarities between martial arts, IMHO :)

  • @eteune your alternating downward is actually the Sinawali Weave used in Kali

  • @chablehh yes, and also a double saber technique used in wushu, interesting how martial arts actually have movements in common.

    thanks

  • @eteune thanks dude

  • @chablehh that technique is very common in kung fu specially if your using Butterfly swords and double hook swords, his right about his reply to you its all about the limit in human dynamics, many throws in judo are also used in Qinna and the latter predates both judo and jujutsu.

  • Thanks -- I was confused as to the difference between the alternating downward spin and the side-to-side-around-the-back one. At my kung fu school we call alternating upward double sword spinning (#1) upward flowers or forward flowers; the alternating ones (#2) downward flowers or reverse flowers, and the crazy side-to-side one (#3) butterflies.

  • just like raving!
