Sylwia's route from apprentice to housekeeper

Sylwia Krzykala talks about her journey from room assistant to assistant housekeeper. Originally from Poland, Sylwia went to work at the Bonham Hotel, Edinburgh as a room assistant. She began her Modern Apprenticeship Level 2 qualification in January 2009 and was promoted to a part-time post as housekeeping supervisor. This soon became a full-time role and Sylwia continued her Modern Apprenticeship training, with the support of her employers. Now she is assistant housekeeper at the Bonham Hotel. Sylwia was worried about her English but did an ESOL course at Telford College. This allowed her to translate and achieve her targets in written English. Now she helps other Polish colleagues with their Modern Apprenticeship qualifications.
