The pilot movie for the Emmy-nominated series "Kung Fu" starring David Carradine. He is a man of peace in a violent land. He is Kwai Chang Caine, schooled in the spirit-mind-body ways of the Shaolin priesthood by the blind, avuncular Master Po and the stern yet loving master Kan. Caine speaks softly but hits hard. He lives humbly yet knows great contentment. He is the Old West's most unusual hero. But hero is not a word Caine would use. He would simply say, "I am a man."

  • for those who dont know it kung fu was the idea of bruce lee . who wrote the script and was going to star in it untill those in charge kicked bruce to the curve they didnt think america would take to a chinese man as lead in an american tv show he was replaced by David Carradine . its also interesting to note bruce lee wrote a movie the silent flute that he himself was to star in which was renamed the iron circle after his death and David Carradine had a role in . ( history lesson )

  • "Circle of Iron" (1978) also starred David Carradine and was a story conceived by Bruce Lee and friend James Coburn.

  • The Chinese are a beautiful people. I love many aspects of Chinese culture. It's sad that when they first came to america back then they were treated so poorly. They, along with my own Scotts/Irish ancestors practicly built the railroad. Most people were treated poorly on arival after white folks took over america.

  • I love the part with Caine in the bar.

  • What's the name of the boy who acts as Kwai Chang Caine? Does he work as actor nowadays?

  • @ironsheik7 Wow, I did not know that! Thanks for the history..

  • too brilliant for words

note the shoulder shrug as he walks by

and he never spills his drink

  • What are we saying, that Bruce Lee wrote Kill Bill too? Funny how urban legends get started.

The creator of Kung Fu of record is Ed Spielman. Lee auditioned for the part but it was given to Carradine instead. The producers SAY that they wanted a serene character for the part and Carradine was more serene than Lee. Carradine did Cirlce of Iron (AKA Silent Flute) in memory and honor of Bruce Lee. Since Lee was dead when that movie was made, I don't know why anyone would blame Carradine.
