  • I don't care what song he is singing! Nobody has a voice that is so natural, so pure and is just a God given talent!! WE SHOULD ALL BE SO LUCKY.

  • John did it his way, I know its not quite how all the others sound but its done in the style of Johns music. I find it very nice

  • love this song even with the way John Denver did it .

  • I'm a fan of John Denver's, but he absolutely did not connect with the essence of this song and he did play it much too fast.

  • its to fast

  • this is a great song and john denver sings it realy goodo

  • sorry why the hell do you come on here spotting crap if you dont like his music dont listen go listen to the version you like dont slat other singer interpolation of a song. For god sake get a life

  • @Freond yeah I don't like this at all. he's totally "lost" the song. his interpretation is awful. This is the first time I've heard it, or at least realized it. I'm trying to listen to new music, new music for me anyway. I love Willie Nelson's. I'm going to check out Guthrie and Goodman's of course. You said it best, a bland rendition and a travesty.

  • @Freond great comment

  • John Denver gave it a more upbeat ending. Shame on him for destroying the plaintive quality of the song about the disappearing railroad. If he's not going to do it right, he shouldn't have done it. John Denver had a nice style and I generally like his stuff, but applying his blandness to this song is a travesty. It's a TERRIBLE version of a truly great song trashed by John Denver. Feel free to like it, but don't dare to compare it to Goodman's, Nelson's or Guthrie's true to the song versions.
