Student Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) at UVA, partnering with Community Ventures International (CVI), helped launch a microfinance program in Quito, Ecuador. The first set of loans were given out on 1/17/09 to 8 separate business owners after the loan recipients completed a 3 day training course on business and money management. SEED team members then spent some time with kids at Amor y Esperanza, a CVI-affiliated private school in Carmen Bajo.
