This is a song pretty much about living in Illinois. But I've heard different interpretations of the lyrics. Which thrills me. Interpret for yourself:

Sell your soul at the crossroads,
With the kernels of your youth
Rot beneath the hot sun
Drink the corncob juice.
With the little fork coming up to the Mouth
As the Wood of kirk gets burnt.
The road is hard but the ground is soft
And the sky is full of dirt.

Believe me when I say
Your cattle has blown away
Mad cows make some insane beef
We're gonna find ourselves relief.
When it rains it really pours
When you're at your mother's
And doing chores
There's only one place to go, so
Meet me at that old silo

Sugartree Grove gravestone
In the corner of my mind
I may have run outta places to run
But I still got places to hide
In the hot midwestern summer
All of the chickens quake with thunder
Getting lost in a maze of maize
I spend no money but I'm spending days

My guitar is a Fender CD140S....I think? It's a 30 dollar wonder. I bought it at a yard sale. Total win.
I accidentally had my stereo acting as moniters while recording in addition to my headphones, so that's why it's obscenely boomy sounding. I apologise for that.
