The Hotpoint going beyond nuts at the 1200 part of the final 1600 spin!!

What a f*cking racket! No idea what's up with it but it sounds like a freight train. And no it's not the bearings...

It is actually much louder than this, just my digi cam somewhat lacks expertise in the sound quality dept.

Enjoy or not whichever way you look at it lol!

  • That sounds like our hotpoint we had dan. I suspected bearings, but the tub weights were loose and the suspension was knackered! Best get em out to it! :)

  • Thanks, Ive had the lid off and had a look, the tub weight on top seems fairly tight, though theres a lot of concrete dust on the outer tub? :S. Suspension is looking rather knackered on this though.... Not wanting to get then out again though. If I do it will be the third time in four months! I am not amused lol. Thinking of just looking around the recon places for a replacement... or possibly try to talk my uncle into givin us his bosch! lol

Thanks for the advice and the comment though!

Funny! It seems that your life will be much more interesting with a Hotpoint .

  • I had the same problem, it was caused by the concrete weight on the bottom of the drum coming loose - could move it with my hand. Unscrewed the front panel to get access and tightened the bolts on the weight (a bit awkward, but doable). Fantastic to hear it spinning quietly again!

  • your wife has been putting in bricks and done the bearings in.

i caught mine sitting on corner of machine on fast spin.

she left me for a hotpoint!

  • In czech language: Tak tohle se dá přirovnat k naši pračce goddess. Ta nám také takhle bouchala.

  • Just fixed a similar machine with the same problem. It's not likely to be the bearings if your machine only makes a noise when it spins. The problem with my machine was the bottom weight had become loose. Didn't notice at first as the top one was loose,so I thought it was that. Once one becomes loose however, the shaking causes the other to become loose. To access the bottom weight simply lay your machine on its back. You might not be able to see what you are doing but you can tighten nuts

  • to nosy

  • as others have said, the bearings have gone, they need to be replaced or it will do damage

  • I have that washing machine. :)

  • Was it balanced before it spun? I bet it gave u lots of balancing crap before spinning but still sounded bad. It still spun unbalanced when balancing crap didn't do the job.

  • I used to get this sound when I washed my dogs. Do you have anything big in there? Coz i was told like u cant wash your dogs in them or u get into trouble. So if you do i wud stop.
