Herne to Trier - Porta Nigra 200 A.D.- Part 6

Driving 125 MPH on the Autoban, it is 3.5 hours from Herne to the historical Roman town of Trier.

Featured in this video is a view of the breathtaking Roman ruins, Porta Nigra. The Porta Nigra was built in grey sandstone between 180 and 200 AD.

Trier:
The Romans under Julius Caesar first subdued the Treveri in 58 to 50 BC. No later than 16 BC, at the foot of the Petrisberg, upon which a military camp had been set up in 30 BC and abandoned again a few months later, the Romans founded the city of Augusta Treverorum ("City of Augustus in the land of the Treveri")
