Two songs called with "Alinum" in the title. The first was taught to me me by Ekona Diatta, the second by Remi Diatta.

I am playing a "banjonting", an instrument that was custom made to my design by John Catches. The banjonting uses 3 strings arranged and tuned in the intervals that are common to the Jola Casa of the Casamance region of southern Senegal. In this case the strings are tuned from lowest to highest as E, F#, d. The banjonting is a cross between the Akonting (ekonting) and the banjo. It uses a gourd as the sound chamber, with a flat fingerboard, and has geared violin style tuners.
