here is the other new acquisition and the matching machine to the D6E06 dryer, a vid of which has also been uploaded.

This is the A2E04 electra washing machine, just after we had arrived back home with it.

It is cold fill only, with powder poured directly into the drum.

Here the machine does a distribute and short spin.

  • What year was this made?

  • This machine dates from April 1977. The matching dryer dates from 1979, so I would have thought that that was when the syle was completely discontinued, with the introduction of the A3110 style machines, in late 1979/very early 1980.

  • It sounds extremly healthy, and just realised there was no detergent drawer. Can you add softner before final rinse???(opening the door)??

will you upload the final spin?(4 mins)

  • yep - the lack of detergent drawer is a strange trait. the third vid, for posting tomorrow, will see me explain the fabric softener thingy.

Just discovered that i didnt make a 4 minute spin vid - argggghhhhhhh!

when the machine is brought out again, i will make amends.

  • that is one good sounding washer!

  • Vintage Hoover sound and a sound which appeared in some Servis Compacts, from the early to mid 1970's too!

they employed Hoover motors back then, changing to Hotpoint motors in the 80s.

  • Indeedy so. Made by Hoover at Merthyr Tydfil in April 1977, for the Elctricity Board Shops.

  • we werent entirely sure about how this function worked, so tried it. Not as simple as you'd think. The third vid, which will be uploaded tomorrow, should explain all.

The A & B button (thats an original matchbox description - its symbolised on this later machine) allows for a long or short spin.

Full spin symbol (B) results in 4 minutes of 800rpm spin.

Half spin symbol (A) results in 20 seconds of 800rpm spin (or whatever speed the machine manages to reach).

    cheers for watching

  • cheers mate. it isnt bad, is it.

  • Hoover made?
