  • Bravoooo!!! palalmeida, could you tell me what was the highest note of Caballe? Could she ever take E flat?

  • No idea!!! Maybe someone can answer...

  • Brava Caballe! No one can touch you!

  • It's true. Thanks for all your comments! And buy the DVD. The whole performance is great and Jon Vickers is a glorious Pollione for Caballé.

  • Assolutamente meravigliosa!

  • You can listen to her here on you tube in Anna Bolena hitting (and holding) a high D. Her Sempre Libera on disc has 2 D flats that are quite good. I've never heard her above a D, although that doesn't mean she didn't have it. Price never sang high E flats on stage either, but she had them.

  • Terrific...love Caballe as Norma! And just look at how the wind blows her veil like the sail of a ship.....she must have known how wonderful that looked!!! I wish I had been there to see it, but the 70's was before my time.

  • Brava Diva!!

  • @BeauTenor You know ... having an extension above high C menas easy High C's D flats, D's and E flats, and an occasional E natural.. Caballe's voice did not sound easy up to a High C for long, then it just sounded like screaming and her occasional excursions above High C were just that ... YELLS She should not have had a big career in Bel canto because she was LOUSY at it.

  • @kgarmaker123 that's funny, because I remember reading an interview with Caballe in shich she talked about having an F. I don't know where you got that she was "apologetic" about such a stellar career, MUCH of which was in the Bel Canto rep.

  • @BeauTenor She did not have them. She never sang them anywhere and was quite apologetic about her career in the bel canto rep.. wihthout an upper extension.

  • NO ESE ES UN DO6 O DO SOBREAGUDO

  • @zurriuss she never sang an e flat in public or on a recording.. I dont; think she was comfortable with it..

  • You msut watch Montserrat's Orange Casta Diva. It is legendary and beter than Callas. BUT both of these women are legends and two of the best sopranos of all time- they are both priceless. BTW Norma is a dramatic Bel Canto role. Caballe and Callas are bel canto singers.

  • Then write this on Maria's Casta Diva, I'm sure you wouldn't get a negative vote there.

  • She had F's to be sure.
