Although this tune is "really" in F (for what that means) I follow the lead of many flute players and other sensible musicians and play it in G. Thomond Bridge is a historic bridge over the Shannon in Limerick, built in 1838, a "modern" part of King John's castle, built in 1205. I don't know the vintage of the tune, but it's younger than the bridge, for sure.
