8 songs I made in PxTone awhile ago... strung 'em together.

Then I got the crazy idea to do mockups of a game to go with each one. Spent all day on 'em. You can tell by the end that my enthusiasm has... waned.

Which program did you use to make your screens? They look really nice :D

I used Paintshop Pro 7, but didn't use anything that couldn't be done in MS Paint. Just a 1-pixel brush, the fill tool (no gradients, just flat colors) and occasionally the selector for copying/pasting.

You've definitely mastered the Cave Story style! These tracks could even be seamlessly integrated into that game if it had more areas. Well done; nice composing! (the artwork looks amazing as well, of course)

12 hours into it I got so sick of making the screens :p

You can tell. I was lazy on the background for screen 7, and just totally gave up on screen 8.

Is it just me, or does the hero look like Quote, if he came from a Pokemon game?

@SiGhast I second this! Your artwork and music are absolutely great, and despite what you said about being overly inspired by Cave Story, both the art and music had a very unique style to them that made them very calming.

You have lots of skills with this sort of thing, I'd like to see more in the future if you ever make more stuff like this! (And I would totally offer to help make the imaginary game... if I had the skill and stamina to do a large scale project like that xD)

Do you do any noteworthy work in the "scene" of pixel art? Ever made graphics for a game? Do you have a DeviantArt? PixelJoint member? ANYTHING? You're terrific at this.

Hmm, he does bear a slight resemblance, but the whole thing does look reminiscent of Cave Story style anyway. :P It's also got a unique flavor to it, though, and I'm really liking it!
