Peak Moment 163: What if future leaders became sensitive to local environmental and social issues before stepping into leadership roles? Tanya Narath describes nine day-long events in the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy's program: Students visit a watershed for ecological context; tour an organic farm (sustainable agriculture); take a walking tour from which students' urban design ideas are presented to the mayor; explore social issues like racial injustice, homelessness, and poverty; consider water ecology, local economy, transportation and land use. • How can one expect to 'fix' using money when money itself is broken

  • I can not beleive the amount of money we are still wasting on the car, when (in Baton Rouge) we have no bus, train, or bike system at all. Yet we are still spending billions on adding lanes to roads.... Dumb

  • the co2 released by a car has a different chemical signature than that respired by a living organism.

and yes sunlight is a 'catalyst' in conversion of gases a plant uses...

  • By the way. Thank you for having a opinion. I really mean that.

Too many people just sit there with thumb in but and brain off.

I don't have to agree with you and you don't have to agree with me and that is the world I want to keep living in.

  • No sun no plant silly.

It's not the CO2 coming out of your tail pipe that kills things it is the other toxic garbage that the oil company gifts you with. They use your gas to dump a lot the crap left over from making more expensive stuff.

Besides if you were to read David Blume's book "Alcohol Can Be A Gas" you would learn very quickly how we can turn a lot of these problems around.

  • I guess having been around a lot what I see is the theft of freedom and a way of life for something that will do little to no good.

Me I plan to grow both food and fuel crops for living and my new business. Going to produce alcohol fuel to power the business and home. Going to make a better engine that gets much better results and runs great on alcohol and many other alt fuels.

Just not sticking around Canada or the States to so, both heading in a direction that I don't want to live in.

it's a bunch of know nothing "scientists" who think there is massive data sets that "prove" scientifically what you're writing about to be complete bullsh#t. it's laughable. i mean we can make tv's, computers and put 1000's of satelites in space but can't make a thermometer that works or understand what world wide "pollution" effects...

  • yeah! co2 grows plants... that's why i park my car on the lawn and let it run for an hour everyday to help it grow... and now it's a very healthy brown and remains at a length i don't have to mow. it's nut that not everyone knows about this! drive more everyone... in fact pour a quart of oil on your veggie garden if you want larger fruit. don't let anyone tell ya that co2 from a car or factory is "different" from a living organism. because it isn't... right? ah who cares.

  • Have you looked at the rape of the economy by the scum bags such as Gore?

The huge taxes and fees that would have come out of the Copenhagen treaty that will bleed everybody dry? The same treaty that would have placed an unelected government over all of us. This unelected government would have cost much more on top of all the new taxes and fees.

Now we have governments going ahead with the fees and taxes to bleed us anyway. Can you spell treason and break the people?

    This "fool" has looked.

  • An other percent or three of CO2 would improve plant growth by 20 to 30 % world wide. That would improve the chances of better food growth in places where people are starving. Since our governments are so set on killing and destroying instead of helping people that seems to me to be the best chance they have.

  • Another great video from peak moment, very imformative
